Herbs To Use For Flatulence

   Flatulence or "gas" is often the result of the wrong foods at the wrong time.   Many people who are lactose intolerant also experience gas pains.  Basically gas is produced by our body in digesting foods and a by product is the build up of air pressure resulting in having to get rid of the excess pressure somehow so we end up expelling it.
 

   Herbs are used to minimize the production of gas and basically any herb high in chlorophyll is good for neturalzing gas.   An example is parsley.   Ginger is another herb used dry to help reduce gas.  Herbs that are used to prevent flatulence are called carminatives and have been used for eons to prevent embarrassing problems with flatulence.

  A tried and true method is the seed from an herb, Fennel.   Technically when one uses an herb's seed it enters the nomenclature of a spice.   This then is a spice.

 

   Fennel tea is made from the seeds of the plant and contains many different vitamins and minerals, making it a healthy and tasty option for those seeking an interesting cup of herbal tea. Vitamins C and B are contained within the seeds in abundance, and you can also get a boost of your daily magnesium, calcium, and potassium.

   The basic recipe is to steep one teaspoon of fennel seed in 6-8 ounces of hot water.  Let steep for 5 minutes before drinking.  If the flavor is too intense then add water, if not intense enough then decrease the water.   Fennel tea is one of those old fashion remedies that has stood the test of time.
